As a teacher and an amateur philosopher I find it more than a little interesting to stop and think about this undeniable fact: the most important goal of my job is something I have no direct control over… whether or not a student actually remembers something.
I can sing, dance, show slides and films or sermonize and make it relevant to every stage of history and still utterly fail at...

Littlest Daughter is 8. Going down slide at school, knocks out permanent front tooth. $%^&!!! Has the head and wherewithal to pick it up and get attention of recess monitor. School calls, we go pick up girl and tooth to transport directly to dentist.
